Portugal is a southern European country on the Iberian Peninsula, bordering Spain. About the Programme-
The Portugal Global Residence Permit Program is a five-year residence-by-investment program for non-EU nationals. Portugal is a full member of the EU. The residence permit allows visa-free access to Europe’s Schengen Area and requires an average stay of just seven days a year in Portugal over the five-year period.
Investment Options-
- The purchase of a real estate property of a minimum value of € 500,000
- At least € 350,000 of total investment amount for the purchase of property that is older than 30 years old, with the obligation to renovate
- Establishment of an enterprise that creates at least 10 employment positions
- Grants of € 250,000 to institutions related to natural cultural heritage or artistic institutions
- R&D investment of at least € 350,000
- Capital transfer of at least € 1,000,000
- Capital transfer of at least €350,000 for the acquisition of units of investment funds or venture capital funds

Requirements-
To qualify for the Portuguese Golden Visa program, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Should be a non-EU citizen.
- Be a non-EU citizen.
- Hold a valid Schengen visa.
- Have a clean personal background and hold no criminal record.
- Dependent children must below the age of 25 and parents above the age of 55.
- Fulfill the investment required by the program.
- Have proof that investment funds originate from abroad.
- A child born to parents holding a Golden Visa for a year can obtain Citizenship by Birth.

As a resident of Portugal, you and your family are entitled to freedom of movement in the Schengen area. As a citizen of Portugal, you can travel to 185+ countries visa free.

Procedures and time frame-
The residence permit is valid for a period of one year after issue and renewable for two subsequent periods of two years. The Global Residence Permit Program requires at least four trips to Portugal during the five-year period: twice at the initial application (to choose the qualifying investment and start the legal process, and to provide the biometric data) and at each renewal (year 1 and year 3). Family reunification is possible at any stage of the program.
